The School of Entrepreneurship was established in June 2015, integrating the school’s innovation and entrepreneurship education and teaching, the operation and service of entrepreneurial platforms, and the organization and exchange of innovation and entrepreneurship activities. It serves as the main body for innovation and entrepreneurship education at the university. The school currently has 15 full-time faculty members, including 5 professors and 7 associate professors, as well as 4 doctoral supervisors and 8 master’s supervisors. It also employs 60 part-time teachers and has 200 external entrepreneurship mentors. The school offers both undergraduate and master's programs in Entrepreneurship Management.
The school adheres to the integration of specialization with innovation, and science with industry education. Leveraging the distinctive characteristics and disciplinary strengths of the three major sectors—building materials, construction, transportation, and automobiles—the school integrates high-quality educational resources, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, and builds an innovation and entrepreneurship platform with clear industry characteristics, prominent disciplinary advantages, complete incubation components, and a gathering of high-quality resources. The school combines its internal educational resources with external social resources to foster education and talent development through scientific innovation and technological entrepreneurship.
The Ministry of Education has allocated 240 million yuan in special funding to support the creation of 10 Dream Studios for innovation and entrepreneurship, covering fields such as ceramic art, new energy and intelligent vehicles, new materials, modern finance and social services, artificial intelligence, and big data. These studios span an area of 37,000 square meters and can provide 50,000 workstations to nurture innovative teams and incubate startup projects. These platforms support innovation and entrepreneurship education, innovation practices, and entrepreneurial support. On average, more than 5,000 students participate annually in innovation and entrepreneurship activities at Dream Studios, with over 700 projects being nurtured each year. Over the past five years, more than 30 student startups have been successfully incubated, winning over 1,400 innovation and entrepreneurship awards, including 45 international awards and 265 national awards. A large number of outstanding student entrepreneurs have emerged.
The Research Working Group on University Competition Evaluation and Management System of the China Higher Education Society released the 2022 National Higher Education Institutions Student Competition Analysis Report. In the 2022 National University Student Competition Ranking (Undergraduate, Top 100), Wuhan University of Technology ranked first nationwide with a total of 565 awards and a perfect score of 100.
