To enhance students' academic research capabilities and broaden their academic perspectives, the 21st Feima Entrepreneurship Academic Forum was successfully held on the afternoon of October 31 in Classroom 602 of the School of Entrepreneurship. This forum invited Professor Zhang Jingwei, a communication reviewer for National Natural Science Foundation projects and a talent under the Hebei Province "Three-Three-Three Project," to deliver an academic lecture on "Revisiting Management Case Study Methods." The forum was chaired by Peng Huatao, Deputy Dean of the School of Entrepreneurship, with faculty and students actively participating in the learning and exchange.
At the beginning of the forum, Professor Zhang explained core writing methods for management cases, such as the Eisenhardt method and the Gioia method. He skillfully integrated case examples, presented these methods clearly and insightfully, and demonstrated their specific application in case study research. He emphasized that management case studies not only require rigorous theoretical support but also demand rich practical experience and keen insight, with a balance between normative rigor and innovative thinking. Subsequently, Professor Zhang showcased classic examples from internationally renowned journals, illustrating the paradigms and techniques of grounded theory application in case research, which greatly benefited the attendees. After the lecture, students asked questions about how to integrate case studies with empirical research and how to make inductive and deductive reasoning more innovative. Professor Zhang answered each question in detail and offered specific suggestions and guidance.
In his concluding remarks, Dean Peng expressed appreciation for Professor Zhang’s meticulous explanations and accessible examples, noting that the lecture was highly enriching. The case study methods and techniques proposed by Professor Zhang provided valuable insights for students' future research endeavors and academic exploration, encouraging them to apply what they had learned from the forum.
The successful hosting of this Pegasus Forum not only expanded the content of the graduate course "Research Methods in Business Administration" for students in the Entrepreneurship Management program but also introduced them to the balanced research methods applicable to specific research scenarios, making qualitative research more profound.
