To deepen international education cooperation and cultural exchange and to promote mutual learning and integration between Chinese and foreign universities in the fields of discipline construction and practical teaching, on the morning of May 19, 2025, our School warmly received the student delegation from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and teachers from School of International Education. The School’s leaders and faculty representatives participated in the reception.
The first stop of the delegation’s visit was Dream Studio of New Energy and Intelligent Vehicles, a practical training platform that facilitates the positive interaction and cycle between “innovation” and “entrepreneurship.” The faculty and students toured various functional areas, including design and R&D, production and manufacturing, and testing areas. They experienced firsthand every stage of the vehicle’s journey from design to manufacturing and appreciated the innovative applications of various cutting-edge technologies in automobiles and robots. During the visit, the students frequently stopped to observe and engaged in interactive exchanges with entrepreneurs about the working principles of new energy vehicles. They gained a deeper understanding of the future trends in intelligent driving technology and the unique charm of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The second stop was the Dream Studio of Ceramic Art, the first specialized ceramic art innovation and entrepreneurship dream studio led by materials science in China. The School’s faculty guided the students through the hands-on rooms and exhibition halls, explaining the application scenarios of ceramics and introducing the research and development achievements of ceramic cultural and creative products. The students also appreciated a wide array of ceramic creative works. The narration of Chinese cultural stories promoted the concept of Chinese ceramic culture and brought Chinese and British teachers and students closer together. During the explanation, the teachers combined the development history of the Dream Studio of Ceramic Art. They introduced the ceramic-making process and principles from various disciplines and technologies, such as ceramic materials science, art design, and 3D printing/ scanning, allowing the teachers and students to deeply experience the magical charm of the natural kiln transmutation and the profound ceramic culture. Subsequently, teachers and students from the Ceramic and Art Association explained the techniques and key points of pottery making, conducting teaching demonstrations and skill explanations. Under their “step-by-step” meticulous guidance, the students began to take bold attempts and immersed themselves in various pottery techniques during the activity, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
This visit and exchange activities were rich in content and diverse in form, providing a valuable opportunity for faculty and students from both countries to learn from and exchange ideas with each other, thereby deepening the friendly cooperative relationship between the two universities. The School will continue to contribute to promoting international educational exchanges and cultural mutual learning, jointly cultivating high-quality talent with a global perspective.
