From December 6 to 8, the finals of the 18th iCAN University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were held in Zibo, co-hosted by the iCAN Organizing Committee and Shandong University. Wuhan University of Technology won three First Prizes, two Second Prizes, and eight Third Prizes across both the Innovation and Entrepreneurship tracks. The university also earned the “Outstanding Organization Award.”
The iCAN Competition—guided by the spirit of “Confidence, Persistence, Dream”—aims to discover and cultivate socially responsible, innovative young talent. Since its inception, it has attracted participation from more than 1,500 universities and research institutions nationwide, spanning technology, cultural creativity, social services, and other fields. In 2023, the event was included in the National Undergraduate Competition Catalog in the “Analysis Report on Undergraduate Competitions” published by the Ministry of Education. Participating teams showcased numerous creative projects with strong market potential. By promoting the presentation of innovation and entrepreneurship projects, the competition bridges the gap between scientific research and social needs, helping students realize their creative and entrepreneurial aspirations.
The national finals not only provided WUT students with a platform to display their talents and hone their skills but also injected fresh momentum into the university’s innovation-and-entrepreneurship education and talent-development efforts. Moving forward, WUT will continue to deepen its “learning through competition, teaching through competition, and integration of learning and competition” teaching reform, inspiring students’ passion for innovation, motivating instructors to teach creatively, and fostering deeper integration between the competition and curricular reform.
