To deepen students’ understanding of the shipbuilding industry and broaden their horizons, faculty and students from the School of Entrepreneurship at Wuhan University of Technology visited Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group on the morning of December 23 for an enlightening study tour.

The event began with Deputy Dean Peng Huatao and Director Wang Ruyi introducing the School’s founding mission, core functions, and the objectives of the visit. The School of Entrepreneurship is dedicated to cultivating students’ innovative and entrepreneurial spirit as well as hands-on capabilities. This collaboration with Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group aims to implement an integrated approach to education, technology, and talent development; to explore a university–industry collaborative innovation model; and to support China’s goals of becoming a maritime, transportation, and education powerhouse—thereby inspiring students’ creative thinking and laying a solid foundation for their future innovation journeys.

Wuchang Shipbuilding’s Youth League Deputy Secretary Wang Leilei warmly welcomed the delegation and highlighted the strategic significance of the exchange. He noted that, as a leader in the shipbuilding sector, the Group not only possesses advanced technology and equipment but also boasts a team rich in innovation and practical experience. He expressed hope that this visit would strengthen cooperation between the Academy and the Group, jointly contributing to the training of industry professionals endowed with both innovative mindsets and practical skills.

Following the meeting, accompanied by company staff, students embarked on a long-anticipated tour of the production workshops. There, they observed the entire shipbuilding process—from raw-material cutting and welding to final assembly. The workers’ craftsmanship and rigorous work ethic left a deep impression, offering invaluable inspiration to the students.

This visit not only provided students with a rare opportunity for hands-on learning but also offered practical insights for their career planning and future employment choices. Participants expressed their gratitude for the experience and pledged to leverage it by mastering their professional studies and enhancing their overall competencies and practical abilities.
