To deeply implement the national Western Development Strategy and encourage graduate students to actively participate in the construction of China’s western regions, on April 6 the School of Entrepreneurship held its April “Research and Learning Forum” in Room 406 of the Lixing Building. The session was chaired by student counselor Jia Yingdi and featured Zhang Xiaohong, a member of the university’s 27th Graduate Volunteer Support Team, along with all graduate students of the academy.
The forum began with all attendees viewing a policy promotional video on the Western Development Program. Through detailed data and vivid case studies, the video systematically explained the program’s key policy points, implementation outcomes, and future directions. Next, Zhang Xiaohong provided an in-depth walkthrough of the relevant policies, covering recruitment criteria, project categories, selection procedures, policy guarantees, and service management. She encouraged students to enthusiastically join the Western Development Program and serve at the grassroots level, and she emphasized that participating graduate students will enjoy preferential employment treatment, recognition of service years, and living allowances funded by both central and local governments.
Following this, counselor Jia Yingdi issued a reminder about dormitory safety, in particular the prohibition of unauthorized electrical appliances, and reiterated the requirement to complete leave-and-return procedures during holidays. Finally, Jia introduced the upcoming “21-Day Partner Challenge” exercise check-in activity, encouraging students to take part and foster healthy living habits.
This forum provided students with a comprehensive platform to learn about the national grassroots service projects—especially the Western Development Program—and helped them explore growth paths that align personal ideals with social development. At the same time, the event strengthened students’ sense of national duty and social responsibility, injecting new momentum into the ongoing recruitment and selection of Western Development Program volunteers.
